Before the wedding
Pre-Marital Classes
Six sessions for engaged couples, on the idea that preparing early is worth more than repairing later.
Six sessions, before you say I do
Pre-marital classes at The Hope Exchange are six sessions built for engaged couples, working through the questions most people don't get around to until years into a marriage. The first session, What is Christian Marriage: Seeking Holiness before Happiness, looks at the biblical perspective on marriage and at aligning your relationship with what that calls you toward, before the wedding rather than after it. The five sessions that follow work through the issues that most often cause couples trouble later on, so you're naming them together while you still have the choice to build around them rather than react to them.
Why now, and not later
The Hope Exchange puts it plainly: preparing early is worth more than repairing later, and six sessions before the wedding is a small amount of time set against a marriage. Each session runs about an hour and costs $125, the same fee for the two of you as for one person. We don't file insurance claims, and the class can be scheduled around your engagement rather than the other way around.

Six sessions
One for each place a marriage gets tested.
The first session sets the foundation: what a Christian marriage actually is, and what it asks of the two people entering it. The five that follow work through the ground most couples only cover after a hard year, together, while you can still choose how to build rather than only how to repair.
Classes can be scheduled around your engagement timeline, and couples who can't make it to 82nd Street together every week can ask about a mix of in person and virtual sessions.
